Nowhere else in the world can you experience the variety of spectacular landscapes and activities in one trip than on this multi-sport adventure. Explore wildlife-rich cloud forests in Monteverde, experience cowboy culture in Guanacaste and feel the warm waters of the Pacific Ocean as you snorkel at a remote beach. Warm up in mineral-rich mud baths and hot springs, and dry off in the arid savannahs of Rincon de la Vieja National Park. This adventure also includes rafting the Pacuare's exciting whitewater and mountain biking along a remote river canyon.

Days 1-2 San Jose-Pacuare River. After a city tour of San Jose, we shuttle to the lush lowlands to brave the rapid-filled waters of the world-class Pacuare River. Adventuresome beginners and experienced rafters alike will be awed within the magnificent canyons found on this Class III-IV raft trip.

Days 3-4 Monteverde. Visit local artisans in the community of San Juan and then walk backcountry roads to the cloud forest village of Monteverde. The highlight of our stay is a thrilling zipline canopy tour above the treetops and across the beautiful canyons. Enjoy Monteverde's "eternal spring" climate with a hike among abundant orchids and gorgeous cloud forest and a chance to see the elusive resplendent quetzal. A night hike reveals other seldom seen critters.

Days 5-6 Guanacaste-Rincon de la Vieja. We travel to the home of sabanero culture for a stay at a working cattle ranch. Ride horses to a soak in the soothing mud baths. Mountain bike singletrack to waterfalls and pristine mountain pools and hike to Rincon de la Vieja National Park's volcanic cauldrons.


Days 7-9 Sugar Beach-Liberia. The Pacific is our setting for a day of excellent outrigger canoeing, snorkeling and lounging about at the pool of our beach resort. A free day follows with options galore--from pool or beach time to shopping in nearby Tamarindo, horseback riding and more.

This active itinerary that begins on the sunny Pacific with biking, outrigger canoeing, snorkeling, whale watching and soaring through the rainforest canopy on zip lines - and climaxes with a journey down the wild Pacuare River, recognized as one of the Top Ten rafting adventures in the world.

Day 1: Arrive San José
Arrive at San José Costa Rica’s Juan Santamaría International Airport
You will be transferred to your hotel

Day 2: San José / Villa Lapas / Biking & Canoeing
This Morning you will meet your multisport adventure guide and the rest of the group for an
early breakfast After breakfast, drive about 2 hours along one of Costa
Rica's most scenic roads, the old Spanish route that winds down from the Central Valley to the
pacific coast . Upon your arrival in Orotina your guide and driver will prepare the bicycles.
Our route takes you,first through the center of Orotina and then onto little traveled gravel back roads. You will
eventually connect back with the main road for the last 8 miles to Agujas Beach, where you’ll
enjoy a picnic lunch . After lunch, swap pedals for paddles and board an outrigger canoe to
explore Pacific Ocean cliffs filled with pelicans and frigate birds. Stop at a deserted beach for
snorkeling and sun bathing . Return to Playa Agujas for a spectacular sunset. Drive 15 minutes
to our lodging (B,L,D)

Day 3: Hacienda Baru / Canopy Tour
After breakfast, depart on a 3.5hour
drive to Hacienda Baru, home of one of Costa Rica's finest
canopy experiences. Traveling from the central to the south pacific region of Costa Rica, the
road you’ll be traveling is known by locals as the “Costanera” (coastal road) and follows the
pacific coast offering views and good possibilities of spotting a variety of birds, including wood
storks, caracaras, and a variety of hawks, amongst others • Stop for lunch in the Quepos area.
Arrive at Hacienda Baru in the early afternoon . Get ready to fly like a toucan! (that is a toucan
who likes to fly in a climbing harness attached to a pulley that is attached to a cable). On this
adventure, eight separate cable rides take you from one ridge top to another, across valleys and
streams • There are 14 landbased
platforms and 1 tree platform with a view of the coast. This
is a great way to see and learn about the rain forest canopy, where over 50% the flora and
fauna live, while having fun at the same time. Drive 45 minutes to Hotel (B,L,D)

Day 4: Whale Watching / Snorkeling / Cano Island
After coffee and breakfast, board a boat and sail through Ballena (Whale) Bay, so named
because humpback whales come here to breed and have their calves. Migrations from the
north and south Pacific Oceans take place during two seasons. The northern populations of
humpback whales coming from central California are in Ballena from December through April.
The southern population coming from Antarctica is in the area from June through October.
Ballena National Park protects many small rocky islands important
for nesting seabirds. These rocky outcrops are home to a great diversity of marine life that can be
enjoyed both above and below the surface. A total of 22 different species of Cetaceans are found in Costa Rica's South
Pacific Ocean. The main focus will be to find the humpback whales, but other species are often
seen. Dolphins are abundant. Spinner dolphins, pilot whales and killer
whales have also been seen. Our destination is Caño Island where the surrounding waters
contain some of the most abundant and varied marine life in the world. The island also has preColombian
almostperfect
spherical stones that are believed to have once marked an offshore
burial ground and ceremonial site for the indigenous Diquis community who inhabited the Golfo
Dulce area until the Spanish arrived • Snorkeling gear is provided • Within 15 meters (50 feet) of
the beach you can explore the warm, waters and search for a variety of brilliantly colored
tropical fish and coral species that inhabit the area. • Return late afternoon to our hotel

Day 5: Savegre Mountain Lodge / Biking
Board the van for a 3.5hour
drive from the Pacific Coast to the Costa Rican highlands • Our
destination is the small town of Cañon, where at over 2800 meters (9100 feet) above sea level,
our mountain bikes will be waiting for us • After a safety talk, we’ll start down a wide, gravel road
that follows a winding 8 km (5 mi) descent to the small town of Copey de Dota, where we’ll have
a picnic lunch • From Copey, we’ll ride 10 km (6.2 mi) on a flat, paved road to the nearby town of
Santa María de Dota • We will then board the van for a short drive to Savegre Mountain Lodge,
where we will spend the night Overnight Savegre Mountain Lodge (B,L,D)

Day 6: Cerro de la Muerte Hike
After an early breakfast, depart by bus for a hike down Cerro de la Muerte • Accompanied by a
local guide, you will walk down the mountain: first through subalpine
meadows, and then
through the oak forests of the Savegre Valley • This is a 5 or 6hour
hike, which ends at Savegre
Mountain Lodge • Picnic lunch will be provided en route Overnight Savegre Mountain Lodge

Day 7: Savegre / Pacuare / Whitewater Rafting
Depart before breakfast for the 3.5hour
drive to the putin
on the Pacuare River • Breakfast en
route • After a safety talk and paddling instructions we’ll proceed down river • Here you will find
out why the Pacuare River, as it cuts through one of the most beautiful river canyons on the
planet, is considered to be one of the 10 best rafting rivers in the world • River time:
approximately four hours • Midafternoon

Day 8: Departure
Transfer to the San Jose International Airport for your scheduled
