DAY 5 BLUE MOUNTAINS TO SYDNEY (L)

Today you will be collected for your full day walk in the Blue Mountains.

You will make your own way back to Sydney and to the hotel.

DAY 6 SYDNEY TO MELBOURNE OVERLAND TOUR (3 DAYS) (D)

Make your own way from Blue Mountains to Sydney pick up point for your 3 day tour. (as the departure from Sydney may be early, you might need to return to Sydney the night before)

Sydney to Jindabyne (via Canberra)
Canberra is Australia’s Capital city and where our Prime Minister hangs out, this is where we head to on our way out of Sydney. We’ll do a tour of Parliament House check out a few embassies and see other city highlights. After lunch, we go to Cooma and learn a little about the Snowy Hydro-Electric Scheme (one of the most complex integrated water and hydro-electric power schemes in the world). Arrive Jindabyne in the late afternoon, a town with a relaxed alpine village feel. There’s time for trout fishing in the lake or you could even go water skiing or wake boarding (all at own expense and seasonal). Tonight you’ll enjoy dinner and overnight accommodation at Lake Jindabyne (all included). Kick back and relax with a sauna, swim or a drink at the bar.


DAY 7 AUSTRALIAN ALPS TO LAKE ENTRANCE VIA SNOWY RIVER COUNTRY (B, D)

After breakfast, a hike along an alpine track rewards you with stunning views of the glacial ‘Blue Lake’ and the top of Mt Kosciuszko (Australia’s highest point). During winter, we’ve got time to play in the snow at the ski resort of Perisher/Smiggins (optional toboggan hire or snow tube at own expense). After lunch, it’s a spectacular drive along the remote Barry Way, with the Snowy River winding along below us. Cross into Victoria before arriving at our overnight stop at the coastal town of Lakes Entrance, gateway to the Gippsland Lakes and Australia’s longest beach – Ninety Mile Beach


DAY 8 LAKE ENTRANCE TO WILSONS PROMOTORY NATIONAL PARK AND TO MELBOURNE (B)

If you’re an early bird, it’s a great chance for a walk before we drive to Wilsons Promontory National Park. Once there, walk along white sandy beaches, watch the ocean pound onto the southernmost point of the mainland, hike along amazing granite rock formations and learn about coastal flora and native wildlife. You might even see emus and wombats. We’ll finish our tour travelling to Melbourne through pastoral landscapes in South Gippsland.

You will be dropped off at your Melbourne accommodation.


DAY 9  MELBOURNE TO HOBART


On arrival in Hobart, make your own way to the hotel.

DAY 10  HOBART TO STRAHAN (L, D)

Today depart for a 6 days overland tour of Tasmania.
First we travel to Mount Field National Park, where we stretch our legs on the Russell Falls and Tall Trees walks. We continue on to Lake St Clair for a view of Australia¡'s deepest lake. On our way to Strahan we hike and explore the Franklin Gordon Wild Rivers National Park. We spend tonight in our own exclusive accommodation in the historic coastal township of Strahan where your guide will fill you in on the amazing history of pining, mining and convicts!

DAY 11 STRAHAN TO CRADLE MOUNTAINS (B,L, D)

This morning we enjoy the intriguing history of Strahan with options to suit everyone! Take a stroll along the foreshore or up the Water Tower Hill for a priceless lookout over Macquarie Harbour and Ocean Beach; walk through a rainforest to Hogarth Falls (if you are quiet and lucky you may even spot a platypus); if you are feeling more adventurous arrange with your guide to canoe in a nearby lake (at no extra cost). Later, we take a walk through the Henty Sand Dunes, where you can even take a quad bike tour (at own expense). In the afternoon we visit the 'Silver City' of Zeehan. In the late afternoon you'll have the opportunity for a bicycle ride (included) at our overnight lodge accommodation.


DAY 12 CRADLE MOUNTAINS TO DEVONPORT (B, L)

Today we discover the World Heritage Cradle Mountain National Park. Enjoy the pure air with a guided walk around Dove Lake with views of Cradle Mountain, or challenge yourself with a more strenuous hike (unguided). We spend this afternoon exploring more of the state's mid north before our arrival in Devonport.

DAY 13 DEVONPORT TO BICHENO (B, D)

Travelling northeast of Launceston, we stop at the sweetly fragranced, rolling purple hills of the Bridestowe Estate Lavender Farm (seasonal, Dec-Feb). Continuing through the changing landscape of heritage farms, forests and mining towns we spend the afternoon at the breathtaking Bay of Fires, where you can take a stroll along the gleaming white sands or a swim in the clear turquoise water if the weather’s good. We stay overnight in the seaside township of Bicheno. After dinner, you can choose to take a local guided tour to see fairy penguins nesting (at own expense).

DAY 14 BICHENO TO PORT ARTHUR (B,L, D)

Hike stunning Freycinet National Park for sweeping views of Wineglass Bay and beyond. You may choose to trek on to Wineglass Beach from the lookout or for those more adventurous; a climb to the top of Mount Amos. Travelling south to Port Arthur, we’ll stop to enjoy a rainforest walk along the way. Tonight, take the spine chilling Port Arthur Ghost Tour for a glimpse into Australia's convict past (own expense). We stay the night at Port Arthur.


DAY 15 PORT ARTHUR TO HOBART (B,L)

We’ll spend this morning exploring the Port Arthur Historic Site and take a boat cruise around the harbour. Next, we visit Remarkable Cave and a range of other spectacular coastal sites on the Tasman Peninsula on our way to Hobart.



DAY 16 HOBART TO MELBOURNE


On arrival in Melbourne you will be transferred to your accommodation by a shuttle bus.

DAY 17 PHILIP ISLAND TOUR

Before heading over the bridge to Phillip Island you will visit some of Australia's wildlife. Jump in for a swim or take a walk along the coast at Woolamai Beach before heading to the Penguin Parade at dusk. Watch in amazement as the penguins come out of the ocean and back to their homes.
We start the day at a fantastic wildlife park before meeting some furry Australian creatures up close.
Cuddle a baby wombat, hand feed the kangaroos and get friendly with koalas, dingoes, emus, lizards and native birds. Phillip Island is just over the bridge and the island is known for its natural beauty, sandy beaches, rugged cliffs and unique wildlife experience.
When the surf’s up at Woolamai Beach it’s really pumping; jump in for a swim or a take a walk along the coast. Stroll along the Nobbies boardwalk which runs along majestic rocky coast, which is home to a colony of fur seals.
After a short stop in the seaside township of Cowes for dinner (at own expense) we head to the penguin parade. The award-winning visitor centre is worth a visit. And then, as the day fades, you’ll witness the littlest penguins in the world emerge from the ocean and waddle onto the shore – it’s a truly magical experience.


DAY 18 MELBOURNE TO ADELAIDE 3 DAY TOUR (D)

Our trip begins as we leave Melbourne and head through Geelong towards the coast to Torquay, with a stop to shop at Quiksilver and Rip Curl before we continue to world famous Bells Beach. Our Great Ocean Road journey begins here as we wind our way along one of the most spectacular coastal roads in Australia.
We stop to see some koalas before passing through the seaside town of Lorne on our way to Apollo Bay, where we’ll stop for lunch (own expense). Next we hit the cool temperate rainforest of the Otway National Park, spending some time at the magnificent Otway Fly, 25 metre high elevated tree top walk. We cap off the day watching the sun set over the Twelve Apostles. We’ll stay overnight in the coastal township of Princetown.


DAY 19 PRINCETOWN TO GRAMPIANS NATIONAL PARK (B, D)

Start the day with an optional helicopter ride over the amazing 12 Apostles or walk down the Gibson Steps to the beach to get a different angle of the limestone stacks. Next we head on to check out Loch Ard Gorge and the western end of the Great Ocean Road including London Bridge, the Bay of Martyrs and Bay of Islands. You may spot a whale or two (seasonal) at Warrnambool, where we have a stop. From here we travel through country Victoria, arriving at the magnificent Grampians National Park to the challenge of a hike to the top of the Pinnacle. The day is topped off by a walk to The Balconies and Reeds Lookout, before we get to our overnight Grampians accommodation.


DAY 20 GRAMPIANS NATIONA PARK TO ADELAIDE (B)

Get your legs working this morning with hikes at Hollow Mountain and the amazing MacKenzie Falls, where you’ll experience the breathtaking views stretching over the north of the Grampians. Leaving this magical place, we travel west, stopping for lunch at Horsham (own expense) before continuing through the agricultural region of Victoria and in to South Australia. Bordertown is home of the rare White Western Grey Kangaroos. Crossing the mighty Murray River, king of Australia’s rivers, we wind our way through the picture-pretty Adelaide Hills before arriving into Adelaide city.


DAY 21 ADELAIDE TO KANGAROO ISLAND (L, D)

Pick up from your Adelaide hotel . Our tours start when we pick you up from your hostel in Adelaide and drive towards Kangaroo Island via the Fleurieu Peninsula and experience some fantastic coastal views. We arrive at Cape Jervis and jump on either our own charter boat (and actively search for dolphins) or the ferry as we cross the Backstairs Passage to Penneshaw on the island.

From there we start our Kangaroo Island experience with the panoramic views atop Prospect Hill.
Overnight is (usually) spent at our private stone cottage not far from Vivonne Bay and surrounded by kangaroos, possums and the occasional echidna and koala. The nights are spent around the campfire. After dinner, whether an Aussie BBQ feast or some other “tour specialty”, we take a nocturnal walk and see those animals active at night, including penguins.

DAY 22 KANGAROO ISLAND (B, L, D)

Visit Seal Bay, where we get up close to the Sea Lions on a beach walk.
We spend time in the Flinders Chase National Park, the largest on the island. We check out the famous Remarkable Rocks and Admirals Arch before choosing a selection of short hikes. Flinders Chase is home to the elusive platypus, vast tracts of untamed wilderness and heaps of other wildlife, which we’ll do our best to see lots of.

DAY 23 KANGAROO ISLAND TO ADELAIDE (B, L)

Today there is time to visit the Eucalyptus Distillery, Stokes Bay, Kangaroo Island Winery and Kelly Hill Caves.

At the end of the day we make our way back to Penneshaw for the return crossing to Cape Jervis and the drive back into Adelaide, arriving at about 8.30pm.


DAY 24 BAROSSA VALEY WINERIES TOUR (L)

The Barossa Valley has a characteristic splendour of its own. European chateaux set within vineyards enhance the multi colours of the changing seasons where villages dot the valleys, on this day of picturesque and taste bud contrasts.
The Cedars - the house and historic working studio of Australia's greatest watercolourist completes a special day.

DAY 25 ADELAIDE TO ALICE SPRINGS (AFTERNOON CITY TOUR)

Today you are transferred to the airport


On arrival in Alice Springs, board an airport shuttle bus and transfer to the hotel.

In the afternoon you are collected from you hotel and join the tour of the city.
This remarkable tour of the town of Alice Springs covers many of the most interesting highlights. These include the original water hole – the Alice Springs – at the historic Old Telegraph station. Visit the Royal Flying Doctor Service and learn how this marvelous facility operates to provide a “Mantle of Safety” to people of the outback. Visit the School of the Air and the Strehlow Centre (Aboriginal Culture and lifestyle). Also visit the Anzac Hill lookout for a panoramic view of Alice Springs. The tour concludes at approximately 17.30hrs.



DAY 26 4DAYS CAMPING SAFARI (L, D)

Departing Alice Springs, we head south, stopping for a short visit at the Outback Camel Farm (rides at own expense) and then heading straight to Yulara. It’s then onto our permanent campsite for lunch. The afternoon is spent exploring Uluru (Ayers Rock). Join your knowledgeable guide for a base tour of Uluru, exploring ancient caves where Aboriginal paintings can be seen, learning about the oldest culture in the world. At sunset, you will appreciate the spectacular colour changes of Uluru. Later we return to camp for a traditional Aussie meal.

DAY 27 AYERS ROCK TO KINGS CREEK (B, L, D)

It’s an early rise for an exciting morning with breathtaking views of sunrise at Kata-Tjuta (The Olgas). Go for a walk to appreciate the beauty of the 36 magical domes and learn about unique fauna, flora and fire management of the national park. This afternoon, travel through red sand dune & desert oak country to Kings Creek Cattle Station where optional activities are abundant. Tonight, try a traditional “camp oven” dinner, cooked in the coals of the fire.


DAY 28 WATTRAKA NATIONAL PARK & KINGS CANYON TO WALLACE ROCKHOLE (B, L, D)

This morning we visit breathtaking Watarrka National Park,home of Kings Canyon. There’s no rush as we hike around the canyon rim viewing sites like the “Lost City” and the “Garden of Eden”. After a picnic lunch, we head off on the famous Mereenie Loop Road towards the MacDonnell Ranges. In the afternoon, we stop at Hermannsburg – one of the most famous aboriginal missions and also home to well known artist Albert Namatjira. We then drive to Wallace Rockhole Aboriginal Community, our overnight camp.

DAY 29 WALLACE ROCKHOLE TO ALICE SPRINGS (B, L)

This morning we join our local guide and visit the Rockhole to view Aboriginal rock art and to learn about the Aboriginal culture (seasonal). You’ll also participate in an Aboriginal Dot Painting Class, learning and practising some of the traditional techniques used in the arts and crafts. Today we’ll also explore some of the Western MacDonnell ranges’ highlights: Standley Chasm and Simpson Gap; enjoy a picnic in the beautiful surroundings, and do some hiking where we may see rock wallabies. Later we’ll continue on to Alice Springs, arriving approx. 6.30pm.

DAY 30 ALICE SPRINGS – DREAMTIME & BUSHTUCKER TOUR

Journey into the surrounding native area of Alice Springs to meet our guide who will introduce you to Traditional Aboriginal People who are still “Living their Culture”.
Be introduced to topics such as Dreamtime and spiritual beliefs and bush survival. Sample a witchetty grub, or some kangaroo tail, as you learn about bushtucker, hunting and gathering and weaponry all of which will be presented for your interest in an easily comprehensible manner.
Gain full understanding of this fascinating culture, both past and present, and learn how it and the Aboriginal people fit into today's society. There is also a rare opportunity to meet and interact firsthand with traditional people from the Walpiri tribe.
Be introduced to Aboriginal artists and their work, as you spend some time in the camp, with the chance to learn about and purchase significant pieces, knowing the work is authentic and that your money is going straight back into the Aboriginal community.
This is a cultural learning experience, second to none - a rare opportunity to experience traditional Aboriginal culture in a sensitive, non-commercial environment.

DAY 31 DEPART ALICE SPRINGS FOR LARAPINTA TREK

If you’ve ever wanted to stand as close as practically possible to the geographic centre of Australia, then the Larapinta Trail, through the West MacDonnell National Park near Alice Springs, is the place for you. You get to stand on peaks and see for miles and miles, relax in sheltered, beautiful and refreshing waterholes, and explore hidden gorges. Early mornings and watching the sun go down are – as you might expect – particularly magical moments in this magnificent and truly Australian landscape


DAY 31  - Section 1, Telegraph Station to Wallaby Gap (14km)
We pick you up from your accommodation between7am and 7.30am. Our walking
commences fromthe Alice Springs Telegraph Station, which marks the beginning of
the Larapinta Trail. The stone buildings here date back to 1872 and they housed
World Expeditions Adventure Travel … Taking the Paths Less Travelled Page 3 of
7 the first Europeans to live in Central Australia. The trail passes through witchetty
bush and mulga scrub, and over exposed hills and shady woodlands, before we
arrive at the deep narrow passage of Wallaby Gap and transfer to our camp.

DAY 32 - Section 1, Wallaby Gap – Simpson’s Gap (10 km) Plus Standley
Chasm Loop Walk
From Wallaby Gap, we follow the trail west through magnificent, shady
Bloodwoods and tall Ironwoods, the dominant trees on this narrow alluvial flat.
We may catch sight of a shy Echidna or Black-footed Rock Wallaby as we
approach Simpson's Gap. A short transfer takes us to the stunning Standley
Chasm where we undertake a spectacular loop walk including an exciting
descent through the rugged heart of Standley Chasm. We transfer to our
wilderness campsite.

DAY 33 - Section 7, Ellery Creek to SerpentineGorge (14km)
Today we are walking through the vertical-spined dolomite country of the Bitter
Springs formation. These 800 million year old rocks contain fossilised
stromatolites, the cyanobacteria that were amongst the first life on this earth. The
trail is again through woodlands and spinifex. Arriving mid afternoon at
your hotel (B,L).

DAY 34 RETURN TO ALICE SPRINGS

Today you return from Larapinta Trek and accommodate in Alice Springs.

DAY 35 ALICE SPRINGS TO CAIRNS

Transfer from the hotel to Alice Springs airport by a shuttle bus.

Leave Alice Springs to Cairns by flight XXX

On arrival to Cairns, you will transfer to the hotel by a shuttle bus.

DAY 36 CAIRNS TO CAPER TRIBULATION (3 DAY AMAZING BAMA WAY DISCOVERY TOUR) (L)

Today, your journey of discovery begins as you travel north along one of Australia’s most scenic coastal drives to Cooya Beach to join Kubirri Warra brothers on one of their beach, mudflat and mangrove walks. Linc and Brandon Walker, of Kuku Yalanji Cultural Habitat Tours follow the traditions of their ancestors who, for thousands of years, educated visitors about their traditional country in order to ensure the survival of their Kuku Yalanji culture. Today the brothers teach their guests how to throw a spear, hunt whilst stalking and observing wildlife and country, and how to track coastal resources. And they share some of their extensive knowledge of this special area and how they care for their country. Enjoy fresh, homemade damper, tea and coffee, before continuing along the Daintree Coast where we continue north to the Daintree Village, for a 1 hour river cruise on the mighty Daintree River. Have a picnic lunch on the shores of the river before we visit the spectacular Niau Falls on Tranquility on the Daintree - a secluded 450acre private property. The Niau falls are a pristine natural wonder waiting for you to discover. You will see strange, primitive plants and learn about the original French settler family. Hear of their incredible story of survival. Your guided walk will unlock the secrets of this fascinating eco-system.
Time for a swim in this magical rainforest environment, (don’t forget your swimmers).
We depart the falls and travel to Cape Tribulation, crossing the mighty Daintree River by cable ferry, arriving at your overnight accommodation. Spend the night in the World Heritage Listed Daintree National Park of Cape Tribulation. Experience the rainforest at night, enjoy this evening at your leisure.


DAY 37 CAPE TRIBULATION TO COOKTOWN (B, L, D)
A leisurely breakfast and walk along Cape Tribulation Beach before we continue on The Bama Way through the heart of the World Heritage Listed Daintree National Park. Travel today is on the 4wd only Bloomfield Track, where we will cross rivers and mountain ranges. Arriving at Wujal Wujal we visit the Bloomfield Falls in the company of traditional custodians from the Walker Family, who share some of their knowledge about this special and sacred place. We travel to Helenvale, where we have lunch at the famous Lions Den Hotel, a famous Aussie bush pub established in 1875. After lunch visit Black Mountains, a unique geological oddity, surrounded in mystery and spoken of in ancient Aboriginal legend. Arriving in Cooktown have your camera ready with 360 degree panoramic views from Grassy Hill of Cooktown, the Coral Sea and the Endeavour. Overnight Cooktown and enjoy dinner with your travel companions this evening.

DAY 38 COOKTOWN TO PALM COVE (B)

This morning enjoy breakfast at Cooks Landing by the wharf before being collected by Nugal-warra Elder, Willie Gordon of Guurrbi Tours. Willie, the traditional story-teller of the Nugal-warra clan, takes you to the Nugal rock art sites, set in stunning countryside high in the hills above Hope Vale, 40 minutes from Cooktown. You’ll visit six sites, including the Reconciliation Cave and an ancestral Birthing Site, where Willie shares the stories behind the art – stories which can only be told by Elders of the Nugal clan - and explains how the paintings speak of the essence of life and the lores of his people. With his great smile and infectious laugh, Willie gives you an amazing insight into Aboriginal society and spirituality, and has you thinking about your own relationship with the land and how the lores of his people can apply to us all. The tour includes an estimated 30-minute bush walk on generally easy terrain. Water is provided, and cameras are welcome.
This afternoon we depart Cooktown following the backbone of Australia's Great Dividing Range, through the spectacular scenery of Far North Queensland's Outback. Your tour of amazing discovery comes to a close as you are transferred back to your accommodation in Cairns.

DAY 39 GREAT BARRIER REEF CRUISE (L)

Depart for a full day cruise to Outer Barrier Reef. From the moon the Great Barrier Reef is the only living structure visible on earth, it is a national treasure and one of the true wonders of the world. The reef lagoon offers excellent swimming and snorkelling areas, quality snorkelling equipment is provided free of charge and the Marine Biologists on board can introduce you to a whole new world. For the more adventurous, SCUBA diving on Great Barrier Reef is amongst the best in the world, both introductory dives for the beginner and guided dives for the certified diver are available, both incur an additional cost. Or you can choose to stay dry and explore the stunning reef world one metre underwater from the semi-submersible vessel or an underwater observatory. A tropical smorgasbord lunch is included.

DAY 40 FITZROY ISLAND SEA KAYAKING


In the morning You are collected from the hotel by a white “My Town Tours” coach and transferred to departure point. Explore the Great Barrier Reef & visit beaches only accessible by kayak and discover Fitzroy Islands hidden delights.

DAY 41 DEPART CAIRNS / AUSTRALIA

Today you are transferred to Cairns International airport by a shuttle bus.
